The Frick Collection

So, this silly girl went out in the snow, thinking maybe the museum would be less crowded because of the weather, even on the pay-as-you-wish Sunday. Hell no. People think the same thing. Especially tourists. Had to wait outside to get in. Oh my.

But the Frick was so beautiful. I am so glad that I finally got to see it.

There was a movie called Girl, Interrupted. Came out in 1999. Time flies. Angie was still sharp as a knife back then. Winona was cute but Angie completely stole the movie.

In the original book of the movie, there is a description about Kaysen, the author's trip to NY and she talks about the Frick and its Veremeer collections. 

The way  Kaysen describes the painting (Girl interrupted at her music) was so charming yet somewhat haunting.. The title of the book came from this visual art. I probably read the book 10 years ago but it left me a strong impression. But I never looked it up on the web or anything. So today was my first encounter with " the girl"

And my thought after facing the real painting?

I will keep it to myself! I feel it is too personal.

Anyway, the most of the collection were also breathtakingly gorgeous. Thinking that they were all private collection, I was just stunned. Worth to visit.

And worth to pay the admission if you want a quiet environment.  

フリックコレクションへ。

雪だし、今日は任意寄付の入場料の日だけど空いてるに違いないと行ったら大間違い。皆思うことは同じ。

外で入場を待たされたし。鼻たれるし。そして洟垂れるし。

しかし、行って良かった。

表情豊かな肖像がいっぱい飾ってあり、なんだか色んな人に会った気持。

その昔、つっても９９年（でもやっぱもう昔か。早いもんです）に

十七歳のカルテという映画がありました。アンジーがまだぶっとんでた頃の映画。ウィノナも可愛かったな〜。でも完全にアンジーに持ってかれてしまった映画だったわ。

原作はGirl Interruptedという題の自叙伝なのですが、

原作では作者ケイセンがNYを恋人と訪れフリックも訪ねる場面があって、

現代のもとにもなった、Girl Interrupted at her music

というフェルメールの絵の一つがとても細かく描写されてたのです。

読んだのは８年くらい前でそれ以来ずっと本物を見てみたいと思ってたけど、わざわざ画像を検索してみようともせず、そのままに。

なので、今日は正真正銘の初対面。

感想は？

内緒！妙に思い入れがあるんだもん。

でも、本当に素晴らしいコレクションです。是非一度は行く価値あり。

でもやっぱり寄付の日は混んでて嫌。美術館の静寂はお金で買う価値ありだと思います。
