It's almost four in the morning. I was preparing my gears and things to bring for tomorrow's gigs at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

私の体調もぼちぼち良いし、今から寝たらきっともっとよくなるはず。
そしてとっても頼もしいチームが明日は色々助けてくれる。

そしてもちろん色んな人の笑顔にあえますように！

Came back to NY yesterday.

I had a great birthday weekend.

My BFF gave me this apron. 

My band members gave me a surprise bday cake tonight at the rehearsal.

During the day I took myself to an acupuncture treatment as a treat after the trip.

Ain't I so lucky? 

I think that having this wonderful opportunity to work with these awesome guys for this show is probably best present ever.

Can't wait!

昨日NYに戻って来て昨日今日と誕生日お祝いしてもらいました。

親友からはこのかわいいエプロンを！

今日のリハではなんとバンドの皆がサプライズでケーキでお祝いしてくださいました。

やさしい〜。泣いちゃうし。

昼間は鍼のセッションで旅の疲れと週末のショーに備えて調整してもらってきました。

幸せ者だなあ。

しかし一番のプレゼントはやっぱりこんなに素晴らしいミュージシャンの皆さんと週末の桜祭りに出れることだと思う。

楽しみ！

Sacred Harp, Once, and Girls

I went to join Sacred Harp on Saturday. (Wikipedia-Sacred Harp)

I was haunted by the sound when I saw the movie Cold Mountain a few months ago so I have been wanting to hear the live sound.

It was hard to read their fasola solfage and focus listening, but it was such an interesting experience.

That same night, I saw the Broadway version of Once. 

I have to say, it was much better than I expected.

My favorite song Gold (actually the only song that was not composed or performed by Glen Hansard in the original movie) was harmonized into a capella singing. 

That was really beautiful. I think whoever arranged that song truly captures the heart of the song.

Anyway, I was once again remembering how fascinating the human voices are.

Today, I caught up with my two favorite girls. 

It's nice to have friends who you can really talk to. 

Back to work! 

1 more week to LA.

セイクレドハープというスタイルのコーラスに土曜日遊びに行って参りました。

すんごい平たく説明しますと、セイクレドハープの何がそんなに変わってるかと言うと、びっくりする和声と、教会とか集まりでの座り方がSATBで四つの方角で各々に向きあってるんですね。というかその和声とその座り方のせいで、響き方がすごいパワフル。だから名前もハープなんでしょうかね？

結構古いけど、コールドマウンテンという映画を見ててセイクレドハープを歌うシーンを見てから、ずっと気になってたのでした。

ソルフェージュも絶対ではなく調ごとに移動式の上に、ファソラミしかないの。

個人的にはそのファソラソルフェージュに慣れるのに精一杯でもっと音を楽しめば良かったな〜、って感じでしたけど、実際に参加出来て良かったです。いい記念。

同じ夜に、映画ONCEのミュージカル版を見にミッドタウンに。

正直思ってたよりずっと良かった。

映画のあの天然な感じを出すのはもちろん難しいけど、

映画の中で一番すきなGoldと言ううた（ちなみにこれだけ元はInterferenceというバンドの曲）が

ミュージカルではアカペラにアレンジされてたんですが、これがとっても良かった。

原曲のキラキラ光るものをしっかり残して更に押し上げてあるかんじ。

人間の声ってやっぱ面白いですね、としみじみ実感した日でした。

今日は今日で二人のだい好きな女友だちとあってきました。

気兼ねなく話せる友だちがいるって幸せですね。

今週末がっつりリフレッシュしたので、こっからまたギグまで頑張ります。

LAだってあと一週間だし。

my happiest routine

So I passed the road test today.
I hope I get to drive around.

After the test, I went to take a walk, check out the library, splurged on my coffee beans at Blue Apron Foods on Union St.
I think this routine, after 2 years of living in BK, is my favorite thing to do here.
There is nothing special. But it definitely lifts up my spirit.
It is just so precious to have time and enough room in your mind to smell the flowers.

And tonight, I went to check out my friend's show in Midtown.
I was thrilled that the venue carried butter raisin. That is right, butter raisin. My favorite thing.
Of course, the show was splendid.

What a good day it was.
And I am off to bed to get ready for the tomorrow's show at the Columbia University .

今日免許取れました。
これで運転させてもらえるかしら。

一日予定を試験のために空けてあったので、終わってから散歩したり、図書館行ったり、パークスロープのブルーエプロンというデリにコーヒー豆を買いに行ったりしました。
ほんとに何でも無いこのご近所散歩ルーチンなんだけど、このコースが、この二年ブルックリンで暮らした中で一番大好きかも。他にも好きなものいっぱいあるけどさ。単純だけど、何度しても気持が元気になる。わたしの思う豊かな生活ってこういうことなんでしょう。
道ばたの花を見て、ああいいにおいって思える時間と心の余裕を持つこと。

夜は夜とて、友だちのショーを見にミッドタウンへ。
お店にバターレーズンがあって大興奮。バターレーズン！！じぶんで作ってしまったくらい大好きです。
ショーはもちろん、良かったですよ。
日米ともにitunesで買えるので見てみてください。

よき一日でした。
明日もそんなわけで演奏頑張ってきます！
